As many locals know, 1261 Main Street used to be home to The Bulkley Hotel when the town of Smithers was originally built. The property was constructed in 1913 and became the first licensed establishment in 1925.
The Bulkley operated as a hotel & restaurant until 1993, when a fire destroyed the building. Instead of rebuilding, the Alpenhorn was born! It was built on the property, which reopened in 1996, and has been operating as a restaurant ever since.
This is an integral part of Smithers’ history, and the addition of The Bulkley Rental Suites has reignited this iconic landmark property back to its original historic roots.
Our suites are located above the Alpenhorn Bistro & Bar, in the heart of downtown Smithers. With views of Hudson Bay Mountain and Main Street, these newly renovated hotel-like suites are perfect for anyone visiting Smithers. Room service available, wi-fi, cable tv, & much more.
